Kart Racing at Adobe Mountain Speedway
The first race of the 2025 season at Adobe Mountain Speedway saw 42 drivers greeted by fantastic weather. A surprising turnout of 6 Jr Novice drivers made for some nervousness, but they all performed admirably. The SS Heavy class, the largest of the day, was the first out on a track that was less than ideal. Despite a few rattled teeth and cracked exhaust pipes, the drivers continued their practice runs.
Before the heat races, Elijah took the red truck out for multiple laps, watering and pulling the screen with the giant tractor tire onboard. He was achieving some impressive lap times and this helped to reduce some of the roughness. The heats ran smoothly and ahead of schedule.
A new "fun" redraw was implemented for the top 4 in SS Heavy and Opens. Aaron Cavaleri, while not thrilled with his 4th place draw in SS Heavy, took it in stride and during the feature race, he skillfully maneuvered his kart through the field to take 1st place. Branden Bolten secured a flag-to-flag win in the sealed class.
The Jr classes were next. Asaiah Farmer dominated Jr Sealed, leading every lap. Jr Novice, with its 6 drivers, provided an exhilarating race with the lead changing hands multiple times before Sierra Montalbano ultimately clinched the win. Jr SS mirrored Jr Sealed, with Asaiah facing tough competition from Kale Gillory but ultimately taking the victory.
In Opens, Aaron led from pole position, while Derrek Goodwin and CJ Bunch secured 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. Bobb Burns emerged victorious in the champ karts, followed by Elijah Loper in 2nd.
