212 Report from Rebel James:

It was the "Kart Nationals" at Adobe Mountain Speedway and for the lack of karts, there was still some good racing....

Not sure how many sealed karts there were. There was enough for two heat races. Mike Danner, who is fixing to move to Hawaii, is trying to win as many as possible before he leaves. He took the win in the first heat race putting him on the pole for the main next to Aaron Cavaleri who won the second heat. I did not see the main but I heard through the grapevine that Danner and Cavaleri put on a good show with Aaron taking his first money race win. Cheyenne Brown rounded out the podium....

The un-sealed karts had all of four karts. Chris Noyes was supposed to drive mine but made a last minute decision to drive his because his driver, Sheena Noyes, was not going to make it in time. That left an open seat and Robert Cole finally got to fulfill his life long dream of driving for the Rebel Racing, James Gang Racing, Noyes Racing team. In the heat race, Eric Kelley Jr. took the early lead with Stu Moffett right on him. Stu got into Eric in turn four and spun both of them out. That gave the lead to Chris with Robert in second. On the restart, I don't what what the leaders were looking at but Stu saw something different. He went from fourth to first before they hit turn one with two laps left. It was over after that. Stu took the early lead in the main and Kelly, who was driving for Donald Curtis, stayed close but just didn't have enough. Chris topped off the podium and we'll, you don't have to do the math, Robert finished fourth....

The open class had 11 sign in but Robert Cole discovered that he had bent push rods and his night was over. The Golden Boy, Ricky Noyes took over driving duties in the Donald Curtis kart for Stevie Sussex who was in Mexico celebrating his anniversary. Need to get your priorities straight Stevie. Ricky took the heat race win. My brother, Jesse James, started on pole for the second heat in the Rebel Racing, James Gang Racing rocket. He lead the first couple of laps until the Godfather, Keith Noyes, driving the Stu Moffitt owned kart, got under him off of four. He got in the marbles, tried to cut down behind Keith and spun. Keith of course drove away for the win. A classic father vs son battle on the front row for the main with Keith on the pole. They battled for a few laps until Ricky pulled off. Don't know what happened. Jesse started eighth. He got up to fourth and was battling Aaron Cavaleri for third. He saw the run coming to make the pass and got a little to aggressive. He over drove going into one and spun. Keith took the win with the Nomax Kid, Eric Kelly Jr. taking second and Aaron getting on the podium. Jesse battled back to finish fifth....

So that was the first time that Jesse drove the rocket with the new Joshua Shipley Racing built beast. Hell, that was the first race with that engine since the Shipley Memorial. It was more power in a go-kart he had ever experienced so I asked Josh to come out and be his driving coach. A big thank you to Joshua Shipley for doing that. I think he helped Jesse a lot. Jesse got up on the wheel and drove really smart. He made a couple of mistakes but learned as he got more seat time. I was extremely proud....
